An Introduction To Design Engineering Industry

    Category: Education

Engineers, devise and build. One might aspire to be a engineer from a very young age, not aware of diversity the stream has. One of it’s kind is Design Engineering. What do they do? They not only devise and build, but also create cutting-edge products. Before you choose the right branch, it is important to understand what it is all about. If you are in a cross- road and design engineering is on the list, read on. Design engineering refers to the process of designing and developing a device, assembly, or system such that it be produced as an item for sale through some production manufacturing process, by applying the ‘engineering design process’, in which engineers develop new products or processes with a primary emphasis on functional utility. With the primary neccessity fulfilled, i.e., understanding Design Engineering, you might want to know the next important aspect of getting into the professional course: Career. You can find opportunities across many industries, including: • Construction, construction engineering and building services • Electronics and consumer goods manufacturing • Shipbuilding, aerospace, railways and motor vehicles • Power generation • Research. With experience you could become a project manager, strategic planner or consultant design engineer. While you are onto the choosing phase, it is important to know what your tasks as a Design Engineer would be; you may work in a team along with industrial designers to create the drawings necessary for prototyping and production. In the domain of production, with the advent of CAD and solid modeling software, which are- PTC Creo, Solid Works, Space Claim, Solid Edge, Key Creator, Autodesk Inventor, boss, NX, CATIA etc, the design engineers may create the drawings themselves. Meanwhile, in prototyping, a model of the product is created and reviewed. Prototypes are either functional or non-functional. Functional “alpha” prototypes are used for testing and the non-functional are used for form and fit checking. As a design engineer, your daily work life would depend on the product you are working on and what stage the design would get to. The products you might work on will be vital to a range of industries including medicine, transport and music. While designing a product, you will need to bear in mind as to how safe and strong the product would be, how much it would cost and the environmental impact. Most design work is done using computer-aided design (CAD) software. When the initial design is completed, you would have to work with other engineers and craftspeople as the designs will have to get tested and put into production, so without saying, you will need to be good at getting along with a wide range of people. With all these highs and lows in the segment of career, you might wonder as to why you would want to choose Design Engineering. Well, the future prospects of Design Engineering will answer your question. for more details click here:-http://bit.ly/1oDSfzK
