How to secure your home or workplace with proximity card system?
Category: Technology
The proximity card systems are efficient in giving easy point of entry security, which is almost endlessly customizable. The proximity card systems give access to a single door or a series of door and do not involve much expense. For businesses, that want to be made accessible to certain individuals at all hours can make use of the proximity badges which helps in granting access to some, while preventing the unauthorized personnel from entering. The proximity card system has a number of components such as the controller, automatic locks and access device. With the controller, one has a central control panel and it facilitates the change of access rules, addition or deletion of accounts and reviewing entry and exit reports. The automatic locks are helpful in opening or closing these on command from the central computer that controls the whole system. The access device may include a number of different technologies or input systems such as biometric scanners, card readers or keypads. The most commonly used device for access is the proximity access card system. It contains a small radio transponder to tell about the holder of the card. It is called proximity badge because it is required to be held near a reader in order to have it work. The proximity badges are advantageous over other types of access devices since they are very easy for the users to carry, last a long time, are very inexpensive and can also be customized by adding photograph of the user so as to use it as an Identity card as well. There are also magnetic card door lock systems that require the users to gain access by swiping a magnetic card. These magnetic cards are similar to the credit cards and must be swiped the way the credit cards are done in order to gain access. They too offer the same benefits as the proximity card system, but it is disadvantageous in the sense that the magnetic cards used in the magnetic door lock systems are more prone to wear and tear if they are swiped excessively. Thus, they wear out more quickly than the proximity cards or proximity badges and thus require frequent replacement. Hence the magnetic cards prove to be more expensive than the proximity badges making it a better solution for access control.
