Significance of Paithani Sarees to Maharashtrian Brides!

    Category: Business

Whether it is a formal occasion, wedding night, kitty party or dinner night, a woman draped in a beautiful silk saree can never lose out on elegance. India's love affair with handloom fabrics is evident due to its cultural and traditional significance. Apart from being the conventional form of dressing, Sarees is considered the most preferred and classy outfit among girls. One of the most eminent forms of Maharashtrian saree is the Paithani saree, known for its uniqueness. Paithani sarees, an integral part of Marathi culture, hold a special place in the heart of Maharashtrian brides. Beautifully handcrafted with an exquisite gold and silver zari border, a Pure Paithani saree is truly a poem in silk. It is nothing less than a canvas for India’s weavers and artisans. One good thing about these sarees is that they are all sealed and don't get entangled with pieces of jewellery and other bridal accessories, enabling brides to heave a sigh of relief. Undoubtedly, a pure Paithani saree is necessary for every Maharashtrian bride for auspicious occasions, weddings and festive moments. Chosen by brides, a Paithani saree occupies a special place in the heart of ladies, especially brides belonging to Gujarati and Maharashtrian families. There was a tradition to wove Paithani sarees on-demand exclusively and especially for queens belonging to royal families only during ancient days. But now, as time has changed, you can easily find Paithani saree online. How has Paithani Sarees Textile evolved over the years? The traditional Paithani saree has evolved entirely from cotton to silk base. The contemporary version of the Paithani saree available today does not have a touch of cotton fabric. Though weavers are exploring new and innovative techniques for developing creative motifs, still they are unable to find an alternative motif that can match the beauty of traditional motifs. The most commonly used motifs or prints in the making of Paithani Saree are ‘kamal’ (lotus flower), ‘rui phool’ (cotton flower), ‘Hans’ (swan), Bangadi mor’ (peacock in bangle), ‘asharfi’ (coin), and for saree pallus especially, Asawali’, ‘Panja’ (a flower in a geometrical shape), ‘Muthada’ (a geometrical shape), and ‘mor’ (peacock), ‘asawalli’ (flowering vine), ‘Bangadi mor’ (peacock in bangle), circles, stars and clusters of leaves. The Paithani sarees are usually found in a number of colors. The colors can be naturally dyed or created by using blend of different chemical colorful yarns. The colors that are generally used in these sarees are ‘kaali chandrakala’ (black), ‘pheroze’ (a blend of green, white and red), ,‘uddani’ (lighter black), ‘pophali’ (yellow), ‘pasila’ (a combination of green, red and pink), ‘sampras’ (a mixture of green and red), ‘neeligungi’ (blue), and ‘kusumbi’ (a purple and red combination). How can one identify a real handloom Paithani saree online from a fake one? A differentiate feature of these maharashtrian saree is that both sides of the saree look exactly the same. This makes for a valuable way of differentiating it from the heaps of Paithani sarees made on a power loom and other duplicate ones in the market. In an original or pure Paithani saree online, pure silk is used in the weaving of the body and pure silver and gold zari is used in the border and pallu. Look for the popular colours such as reds, peach-pinks, sky blues, yellows, greens, magentas, and purples, as well as the traditional motifs—the Narali (coconut), ‘pophali’ (yellow), ‘pasila’ (a combination of green, red and pink), and ‘sampras’ (a mixture of green and red), is usually seen on the border along with pankha or peacock motifs.
