Times Higher Education Rankings 2024; IISc Ranked Best in India

For the first time, a record-breaking number of Indian universities feature in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024. India’s top university, the Indian Institute of Science, is back in the global top 250, falling in the 201-250 band. For the first time since 2017, in the largest edition of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. The second highest ranked universities in India are Anna University, Jamia Millia Islamia, Mahatma Gandhi University, Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences, all in the 501-600 band. Indian universities made significant gains this year, including the country’s top five universities. IISc rose to 201-250 from 251-300 band last year, Anna University rose to 501-600 from 801-1000 band last year, Aligarh Muslim University rose to 601-80 from 801-1000 band last year, and Bharathiar university moved from the 801-1000 band to 601-800 last year. Furthermore, Malaviya National Institute of Technology entered the ranking for the first time in the 601-800 band.
